This is the very first steps to getting a new version of the editor out there for you all. In the next release, I will attempt to get most of the editor function supported in Safari. Currently, font face, bold, italic, underline, superscript, subscript and text alignment work in Apple's Safari 2.0 (412) browser.
There is much work to be done, and since I don't have a Mac computer to tinker with (except the occasional lunch break at work), the going will be quite slow. I haven't really been able to keep up on the contenteditable discussions around the web, but I am hoping that someone can get me up to speed when I find the time to think about it.
In any case, enjoy and have fun with the editor. Please, report anything that does work that I haven't mentioned above. I also accept hints and tips to get things like this working as well!
No more browser sniffing: Everything will be done with feature sniffing only. This will allow other browsers to be supported as soon as the features are available to them.
Language translation files: I know a few of you use this for non-English sites, so I finally got something going for you. Translations of the English language file are welcome! Send them here.
Supported Languages
Eventually, I will even get these files saved in UTF-8 character encoding...
Content preview button: Opens whatever you currently have in the editor into a new window. It even uses the same stylesheet that the editor does. (It's bascially a larger version of the editor that you can't edit.)
Content print button: Sends the content currently in the editor to your printer.
